Jerron Herman: LAX

  • Fralin Museum of Art 155 Rugby Road Charlottesville, VA, 22903 United States (map)

Registration is required - link coming soon!

LAX is a site-responsive installation for atypical spaces. The performance whimsically examines the “athleticism of rest” through a dynamic solo with participatory activities, underscored by an ecstatic soundscape. LAX is created and performed by renowned choreographer, dancer, and performance artist Jerron Herman, with textiles by Sugandha Gupta, centering text, movement, and disability aesthetics. The evening works to calm the system{zzzzz} we all encounter.

Seating will be limited, but flexible. Guests are welcome to stand, sit in available chairs, or find a spot on the ground. Everyone is encouraged to make themselves comfortable and enjoy the performance in their own way.

This program is co-sponsored by the UVA’s Department of Drama’s Dance Program and the Disability Studies Initiative. Support also provided from an Arts Enhancement Grant and Rolling Grant from the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost of the Arts at the University of Virginia.

In Feeling is supported by an Arts Enhancement Grant from the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost of the Arts at the University of Virginia and Crozier Fine Arts.
